Shooting locations & film locations. In the Hall-Wattens region
Before the first clapperboard drops and the actors strike a pose, many decisions have to be made. First and foremost - the choice of location. And this choice always falls on the Hall-Wattens region in Tyrol. The region offers interesting backdrops for films of all kinds.
As early as 1929, in the first Andreas Hofer film, freedom fighters from Tyrol fought against the occupying French forces in the salt works town. One of the locations in the black-and-white epic was a wooden bridge over the Inn, from which a daring extra threw himself into the Inn for the reward of a sausage roll. The views of the town have of course changed since then - what has remained is the medieval town center with its narrow cobbled streets and two to three-storey houses, which have been expertly restored to their original state over the past three decades in collaboration with the heritage office. This means that entire streets can be transformed back into a medieval setting with little effort.
