WM salad field. Cyclists welcome

60,000 heads of lettuce send a message to all athletes and fans of the 2018 UCI Cycling World Championships here on Dörferstraße between Absam and Thaur. The lettuces were planted by the Thaur farmers, who cultivate the largest vegetable garden in Tyrol between the towns of Absam, Hall in Tirol and Thaur.

A wide variety of radishes, carrots, cabbage, leeks, herbs, asparagus and lettuce are planted in the fields. The products belong to the "North Tyrolean Vegetables" region. The 5,500 square meter lettuce field with the greeting to all cycling enthusiasts consists of green lettuce and dark red Lollo Rosso lettuce. The lettuce heads will certainly be used to conjure up many a fitness salad after the World Cycling Championships, as enjoyment and culinary delights are also very important in the region.

The climatic conditions on the Thaurer cultivation areas are ideal for vegetables: a pronounced temperature difference between day and night together with plenty of light enable healthy growth and many valuable ingredients in the vegetables grown - from lettuce and radishes to peppers and celery through to exotic vegetables such as artichokes or fruit such as melons.
