Path of reflection. Absam - Gnadenwald

The contemplation trail from Absam to Gnadenwald - St. Martin offers an opportunity to trace this longing away from the hustle and bustle and noise by consciously walking and looking, listening, smelling and feeling. St. Martin's Monastery is one of the places of power in the Hall-Wattens region: a place steeped in history in the Karwendel Nature Park, which has many facets to offer in addition to peace and relaxation.

For many people today, the search for spiritual impulses in their lives has become a matter of survival. Our everyday lives make it difficult to be still and listen to our own souls. This fact awakens a longing for "more" in many people and often makes them realize that they need to break free and seek new paths.

North of the Walderbrücke inn in Absam, the 50-minute path of contemplation leads towards Gnadenwald: from the Walderkapelle chapel to St. Martin's monastery.
The nine stations along the way are designed to draw attention to the inconspicuous and self-evident things that are usually rushed past in the daily grind. The stations encourage you to turn your attention to yourself, to your hopes and fears, to small happinesses and disappointments, to questions and doubts. The walker follows the path of reflection with an open mind, experiences wonderful moments of contemplation and also the experience that "beatitudes" take place in the midst of everyday life. It is a place where heaven and earth meet. At the end of the trail is the stone labyrinth at St. Martin's Monastery in Gnadenwald, the final point of the trail and a place of special tranquillity.

The stone labyrinth in St. Martin

REST - ART - OASIS

Labyrinths have been found in many cultures for more than 5000 years, formed out of the need for inner peace and home. This is a Cretan or classical labyrinth.

Labyrinths are regarded as a symbol of the human journey through life: finding one's own center and the path back to the roots to the end and new beginning of life.
The ceramic-concrete object in the center refers to the life principles of sharing (love) and respect for nature (unity): the two saints of the monastery - Martin and Francis - symbolize this.

The ceramic hemispheres in the labyrinth indicate the individual variations of the path. We invite you to pause and follow the "path of life".

We wish walkers on the path of reflection open senses, moments of contemplation and the experience that the "Beatitudes" take place in the middle of our everyday lives. It is the place where heaven and earth meet.
