Mining Museum. Hall in Tyrol
The Hall in Tirol Mining Museum is located in the heart of Hall's old town. The tunnel, which is a reconstruction of the salt mine in Halltal, gives visitors an informative insight into the history of salt mining. The mine and its tunnels in Halltal have been closed since 1967. Salt is no longer mined here. Nevertheless, the artificially created tunnel in the old town of Hall in Tirol allows visitors to immerse themselves in the mining world. Shafts, tools, minerals, a slide and much more give you the feeling of being "underground" yourself. Good luck!
The "white gold", as salt is often called due to its enormous value in days gone by, was one of the most important factors that brought immense wealth to Hall in Tirol (formerly Solbad Hall). Nine kilometers north of the town, in the so-called Halltal, salt was mined from around 1244 to 1967.
The mining museum can only be visited as part of a guided tour (approx. 1 hour). Regular guided tours are offered all year round. Group tours are possible by prior arrangement.
