Long-distance hiking trail. Romedius Pilgrimage Trail
The Romediusweg is a long-distance Alpine hiking trail that leads from the small municipality of Thaur to San Romedio in Trentino. It was created in the spirit of cooperation between the Tyrolean provinces of TIROL-SOUTH-TRENTINO.
We don't know which route St. Romedius took, but you can still follow in his footsteps. Starting from Thaur in Tyrol, the pilgrimage route leads over 180 km and 9,600 meters in altitude to the pilgrimage site of San Romedio in Trentino (including via Maria Waldrast, the Stubai Alps, over the Schneebergscharte 2,700m, the Texel Group, Merano and the Gampenjoch).
Pilgrimages are inspiring more and more people! Especially in our fast-paced, hectic times, a conscious break from everyday life can regenerate the soul. In addition to the best-known pilgrimage route, the Way of St. James, more and more pilgrimage and contemplation routes are being created or have actually existed since time immemorial and are now being rediscovered.
Pilgrims can expect true natural and cultural experiences: Pilgrimage sites, chapels and wayside shrines, places of power, beautiful, untouched landscapes as well as alpine pastures and mountain lakes allow travelers to immerse themselves in another world. Everyone is talking about pilgrimages: on foot, in the open air, being with yourself in all weathers, letting your thoughts flow and carrying them before God. And rethink or find some decisions for life.
