City Museum. Hall in Tyrol
The collection of the Haller Stadtmuseum houses numerous exhibits relating to the history of the town. Of particular art-historical importance are the showpieces from the Waldauf collection (such as the two altarpieces from the altar of the Waldauf Chapel in Hall's parish church, which are attributed to Pacher's pupil Marx Reichlich) and from Hall's Baroque past (Damenstift and Jesuit church). Numerous views of the town document the historical significance and the changing times in Hall.
The town museum had been housed under the "Alt-Hall" museum association since 1933 in what is now the town hall café on Oberer Stadtplatz. In the 1960s, it was reorganized by Hofrat Dr. Hans Hochenegg and others. Under the management of cultural advisor Dr. Leopold Wagner and art historian Dr. Henry Quintern, the museum moved to Hasegg Castle in 1977-1979.
As part of the Interreg project REVITA (with the twin town of Klausen), new premises for the city museum in Hasegg Castle were rebuilt, renovated and restored from 2010 to 2013. The premises are already being used for the town museum's current exhibitions and events. The renovations are part of an overall concept to expand the cultural use of Hasegg Castle.
