Parish church of St. Thomas the Apostle - Tulfes
The parish church of St. Thomas in Tulfes was first mentioned in a document from the Wilten Abbey archives in 1332. In 1333, the "pro Capella S. Thomae" was granted an indulgence of 40 days and the cemetery was consecrated in 1486. The current tower was built in 1718, while the church itself is late Gothic. The high altar dates from 1724 and the beautiful altarpiece was created by the Hall painter Alois Reisacher. The fresco paintings on the ceiling are by the Giner brothers from Thaur and were renovated in 1839 by Barthlmä Mayr and Andreas Nocker from Rinn. The southern outer wall of the church is adorned with a large 16th century-style St. Christopher.
