Business Hotels. Criteria list

There are mandatory criteria, all of which must be fulfilled, and optional criteria, of which at least 75 percent (at least 27 of 37 criteria) must be fulfilled. In individual cases, there are alternatives to fulfilling the respective criteria.

Must criteria

  • Accessibility via cell phones of the common networks must be guaranteed in the public areas as well as in the hotel rooms (T-Mobile, Drei, A1, Vodafone, E-Plus).
  • The hotel accepts VISA & MasterCard.
  • In each room there is a work surface with a free area of at least 0.8m x 0.5m. The light for this work surface must be sufficient (at least 500 lux) and at least one additional free socket must be available.
  • Internet access via WLAN must be offered in the public area of the hotel. It must be possible to establish an Internet connection via ISDN, WLAN, DSL or similar in the hotel.
  • Parking facilities must be accessible 24 hours a day and may not be less than 20 percent of the number of rooms.
  • In addition to the breakfast buffet, there is a minimized breakfast arrangement or an à la carte ordering option.
  • When invoicing, the wishes of the hotel guest and their requirements must also be taken into account with regard to the respective company travel policy.
  • A meeting room is available.
  • Room safes are available for storing important documents, notebooks etc.
  • The hotel room doors have a security lock (card system or security cylinder).

Can criteria

  • The hotel provides a clearly structured map with navigation coordinates, exact address and a brief description with pictures and text.
  • There must be a possibility to park directly in front of the hotel to load and unload luggage.
  • Mattresses must not be older than 8 years and must be cleaned every six months or kept hygienic with appropriate protective covers.
  • A public bar/room/lounge/hall is offered where the business traveler receives a beverage service.
  • An elevator must be available from 3 floors upwards.
  • Concierge services such as restaurant reservations, cab call, etc. are offered.
  • The business traveler can order a luggage service at any time.
  • The hotel offers at least one national daily newspaper and at least one business magazine.
  • A shoe shine service is offered (shoe shine machine is sufficient).
  • The hotel has a laundry service with flexible service times.
  • An ironing service is offered (alternatively there is an ironing station in the room).
  • The business traveler must be provided with a photocopier that he/she can operate personally and a fax machine for sending and receiving confidential documents.
  • Guests can pick up toothbrushes, deodorant, disposable razors, combs, sewing kits and toiletries for women at reception.
  • At least one English-speaking employee works at reception at all times.
  • Costs incurred in the hotel must be chargeable to the room account (restaurant, bar, wellness, garage, etc.).
  • The direct transmission of messages via electronic systems (e.g. telephone system, television) or a corresponding form, as well as the discreet and confidential handling of these documents or messages are guaranteed.
  • The wake-up service (personal, by telephone or programmable on TV) must be reliable.
  • Catering with at least 2 hot and 4 cold dishes is offered from 11:00 to 23:00.
  • Room service is offered from 7:00 to 23:00.
  • At least three different soft drinks and water must be available in the minibar.
  • More than 50 percent of the rooms offered must be non-smoking and labeled as such.
  • The rooms must have undergone a soft renovation (carpeting, paint or wallpaper on walls and ceilings) in the last eight years.
  • The hotel room must be at least 14m2 in size.
  • The windows in the hotel room must be able to be opened by the guest (tilt position is sufficient).
  • An escape plan with instructions in the event of a fire must be displayed on the inside of the hotel room door or on the wall immediately next to it.
  • All rooms have direct dial telephones.
  • There are sockets at the desk and at least one other easily accessible socket. The hotel must provide multiple sockets.
  • A detailed, clearly structured "A-Z Guide" is available in every room, with emergency numbers, offers of additional services, the weekly program of the tourism association, information about the guest card as well as up-to-date and comprehensive information about the hotel and its surroundings.
  • A notepad with writing utensil is available in every room.
  • There is a possibility to hang up a garment bag (of at least 20 kg).
  • In addition to normal clothes hangers, there are also skirt and trouser hangers.
  • A full-length mirror hangs in every hotel room.
  • Standard hygiene products (shampoo, shower gel) are available free of charge in all rooms.
  • There is a shaving/make-up mirror in every bathroom.
  • There is a hairdryer in every bathroom.
  • Each person is provided with two towels (1 hand towel, 1 bath towel).
  • The hotel provides allergy-friendly pillows and blankets.
