The miracle of Wörgl. Film shoot

Das Wunder von Wörgl (working title Der Geldmacher) is a 2018 Austrian feature film directed by Urs Egger and starring Karl Markovics. Filming took place from September 25 to October 30, 2017. In addition to various locations in Tyrol, filming also took place in the old town of Hall in Tyrol.

The film tells a story based on a true story about the "Miracle of Wörgl" in Tyrol in 1932. As National Socialism takes hold, Wörgl is on the brink of bankruptcy. Mayor Michael Unterguggenberger (Karl Markovics) succeeds in leading the municipality to prosperity by introducing a so-called "shrinkage money" that is guaranteed to circulate and pushes unemployment towards zero.
