Mythical Via Ferrata on the Glungezer. Press release
On Austria's new 1st legend via ferrata on the Glungezer, you can enjoy views of over 400 Alpine peaks while immersing yourself in the magical world of mountain legends and fairy tales.
The Alpenverein Hall in Tirol renovated the existing via ferrata on the Glungezer on the existing route and significantly extended it. Various levels of difficulty have been planned for the boulder terrain - from easy ("Category A") to difficult ("Category C"), all requirements are covered, such as short and long steep climbs, ridge intersections and a chimney passage. A folder telling the legend of the Glungezer giant is available for children. The highlight of the via ferrata is a rope bridge with a signposted photo point for breathtaking views of the Karwendel mountains opposite.
The via ferrata starts above the Zirbensee lake on the Glungezer. The total ascent time of 2.5 hours is required for the 400 vertical meters. 10 minutes from the exit is the Glungezerhütte at 2,610 meters above sea level, which invites you to take a break, relax and enjoy the impressive mountain scenery.
